About Matt

Matt SchlueterHello, I’m Matt!

So, you want to know a bit about me, eh?

Well, in a nutshell, I am a bonafied computer geek, and love all things technology.  I am the Multimedia Coordinator for my local church, a freelance website designer, graphic designer, server & storage engineer, and also own a computer support business and web hosting company.

Unlike my wife, I found Christ as an adult.  I didn’t grow up the church, and really didn’t have a clue what this God thing was all about.  When I met Beth in high school, she went to church every week with her family.  My only hope of seeing her at all on Sundays was if I went to church with them… which of course, I did. 🙂

As a result of a large Christian conference, I ended up accepting Christ as my personal savior, and was baptised while becoming a member of my (then) girlfriend’s church.

While at that church, back in about 2001, I was roped into starting a website, since I “knew computers.”  Normally, that is a pretty big mistake, but it worked out.  It sparked my passion for web design, and I have been thoroughly researching church web marketing ever since.  I know what works, what doesn’t.  I try to stay on top of current trends and weed out fads from productive usefulness.

For about 15 years, I have noticed overall declining church attendance, and it became a worry.  I’ve been studying church growth and congregational goal setting strategies for some time, having attended numerous leadership seminars and independent book study.

Fast forward:  Recently, God placed a mission on my heart, along with my wife, to help strengthen and revitalize the Church (capital C) in America.  Thus, Be the Church was born.  While I primarily see myself as a technical resource for this endeavor, it is something that’s been years in the making for me in terms of the desires for this path, and the preparation God has placed on my heart.

Also of note, for the past several years, I have been asked to speak on websites and church media at a regional church leadership conference, and love discussing this topic.
